Town of Perdido Beach water access point problems

To say we have no water access in Perdido Beach is simply not factual.  By what ever metric you chose to use (population density, yards of shoreline, sq miles of territory, etc) the town of Perdido Beach probably has a higher water access point ratio than any community on the entire gulf coast.  The Town Hall has a map with pictures showing the 10-12 streets that end at the water and provide access.  The Youpon St ramp provides launch capabilities for small boats up to 17′ long.  (Last weekend there were 5 empty trailers there.)

The Town of Perdido Beach water access points were designed to allow access to the water for the residents of the Perdio Beach neighborhood to launch kayaks, paddle boards, canoes, small craft, etc.  They are streets that end at the waters edge providing ingress and egress….but you better get there 1st.  They are now being used against their intended purpose and access to the water is being blocked unless you are the 1st one to get there.

Shows how “serious” our town is in keeping law and order.  The Town attorney has said numerous times to the town council that these roads are ONLY for ingress and egress with no parking, camping out, cooking out, etc.  They are streets like any other in town that can’t be blocked.

State St water access blocked 6-2-18 by a party in the street. 2 rows of 3 cars each were parked across street at water and more lined the road. Grills setup etc. People were asked to move their cars several times that were blocking access to the gate of the private property to the north.
Mobile Ave water access blocked by party in the street 6-9-18

It would be interesting to see what the town’s response would be if the same thing happened with people, cars, and grills blocking off Riggs St all day right beside town hall or maybe in the middle of hwy 97.   Double standard.

If the town can’t control our ingress and ingress only right of ways, how are they going to control a PUBLIC boat launch and park?
