Garbage problems at PUBLIC boat ramps

Lillian Boat Ramp 7-8-19

Here’s why they had to take out the dumpsters at the Lillian PUBLIC boat ramp due to abuse. People were throwing out mattresses, TVs, etc. They put back in one single trash can…

So they took out dumpster & put n reg barrel?

I saw that Saturday afternoon. Absolutely pathetic. They wouldn’t even walk the carcasses down to the pier and feed the crabs.

Snappers! That’s just wrong. Lots of trash too. I know nothing got emptied due to the holiday weekend but much of the trash was household garbage. NOT the sort of stuff that belongs in boat ramp barrels. This is obviously coming from people who don’t want to pay for garbage collection. Get a burn barrel and a wind sock, people. A boat ramp is not the place for a dumpster. The recycle center was the right spot but the county didn’t empty those often enough. There are several barrels. Plenty for the type of trash generated by boaters and picnic people. Empty TV boxes don’t belong there.

There were also dead bait fish dumped on the pier. Could’ve just as easily have put them in the water as chum. Someone said they should have been thrown in the woods for the stray cats. It’s such a nice boat ramp. Our ALABAMA taxes paid for it. **And PLEASE keep your adorable dogs on leashes. One sweet beast swam right in front of our boat as we were taking it out of the water. The owner whistled for it, so it then swam right in another boat’s way. That animal is gonna get hurt. Alright, bi*ch fest over. It was great weather!

Awful!

I thought getting rid of the dumster was a good idea, now im begining to wonder if another solution would e been a better idea. I just dont know what that would be.

dunno either. Maybe a gate opened by an Alabama drivers license? Anyone else, like FL residents for instance, could contact some AL agency and buy a card to swipe at the gate. And put additional dumpsters at the recycle ctr for these freeloaders. Nag the county if they neglect them. Gotta do something to keep our boat ramp nice.

Alabama residents launch at Galvez and Florida residents launch at Lillian. So, I don’t think it would be fair to limit entry to only Alabama residents. I don’t think limiting entry would necessarily correct the problem with slobs and trash anyway. It may be best solved by writing a few tickets for littering.

The State is not 2 blame, Its the people , That do it!

I heard the boat ramp area was full of non caring folks shooting off fireworks in ALL directions. I’m not surprised they left there trash. Maybe no trash containers? You have to take your own trash home. Sheriff patrols?

If folks aren’t held accountable, the problem won’t change!

Coming soon

Coming soon to Soldier Creek NEAR YOU !! In the tiny Town of Perdido Beach the mayor has stated that they can’t enforce ordinances. So how would they hold people accountable?
